Kiln
We asked the suppliers to offer a kiln of 4.8 m diameter
with 4.5% slope. For this size of kiln, suppliers offered us
6,500 TPD as guarantee, while discussing with them we
collected the operating data of similar size kilns across
India and observed that most of them were operating at
more than 7,500–7,800 TPD, accordingly we convinced all
the suppliers to offer a guarantee at 7,200 TPD minimum
considering higher sizing of pre-heater and pre-calciner
leading to better heat transfer and resulting in lower
thermal loading in the kiln.
During order finalization, discussions were held with
OEM’s for further bigger size pre-heater for any future
potential in capacity, and accordingly, the supplier increased
their kiln diameter from 4.8 m to 5.0 m. By increasing the
PH and kiln dimensions to higher size, the guaranteed
capacity was enhanced from 7,200 TPD to 8,000 TPD
keeping potential capacity as 9,500 TPD.
