Dalmia DSP Success Story

(Project Pridr) #1

64 PROjECT PRIDE

Being a fast-track project, the initial and most important
task was to ensure early release of construction drawings to
enable the timely commencement of construction activities.
The release of construction drawings was in turn dependent
on the release of mechanical and electrical inputs from
main equipment supplier M/s FLSmidth.
Close follow up was made with FLSmidth and Holtec
assuring availability of equipment, GA drawings, and
detailed construction drawings respectively from these
two key partners. The project team along with Holtec
made several visits to the FLSmidth office at Chennai
for approval of drawings across the table to expedite the
engineering process. At Delhi, a dedicated team from
DCBL was continuously deployed at Holtec to ensure a
review of civil design, immediate resolution of queries,
close engineering coordination gaps, and release of
construction drawings to site. As a result of this, almost
for all plant structures, substantial construction drawings
were available with the site to plan construction activities
well in advance.
The pre-heater tower is the most important and
critical structure and has a governing influence on project
commissioning. With equally enthusiastic support from
FLSmidth and Holtec teams, pre-heater GA drawings were
released within six days of a kick-off meeting for foundation
design; a very short time. Foundation construction drawings
were released on 1 October 2018 to site and excavation
started on 4 October 2018. RCC superstructure drawings
were also released subsequently with equal speed as inputs
