23 ⁄ 8 " square atop a red print 2^3 ⁄ 8 "
square. Sew together with two seams,
stitching^1 ⁄ 4 " on each side of marked
line (Diagram 3). Cut apart on marked
line. Press open to make two red small
triangle-squares. Each small triangle-
square should be 2" square including
seam allowances. Repeat to make 104
red small triangle-squares total.

together two assorted red print
small triangles and a red small
triangle-square to make a triangle
unit. Repeat to make 104 triangle
units total.

together two triangle units and
a cream print extra-large triangle to
make a side unit. The unit should be
31 ⁄ 2 × 61 ⁄ 2 " including seam allowances.

Assemble A Blocks, Step 4, to make

Using remaining marked cream print
squares and unmarked cream print
37 ⁄ 8 " squares, repeat to make 32 cream
large triangle-squares (Diagram 7).

marked red print 2^5 ⁄ 8 " square with
one corner of a cream print extra-
large triangle. Sew on marked line.
Trim seam allowance to^1 ⁄ 4 ". Press open
attached triangle to make a center
subunit.

to mix modern and
traditional prints with
