NOVELTY ANIMALNUMBER ONE CAKEhttp://www.cakedecorationmagazine.co.ukSPONSORED BY:### YOU WILL NEED### EDIBLES: ProGel: brown, pink, black, lime green,bright green, grey, yellow, orange, redand ice blue(Rainbow Dust) edible glue sugarpaste: white ready-to-roll(Renshaw) modelling paste: white (Renshaw) number one shaped cake sugar sticks (made from driedmodelling paste) royal icing (Renshaw) food art pen: black (Rainbow Dust)### EQUIPMENT: small palette knife brush veining tool cutting wheel small and medium blossom plungercutters small rose petal cutter small teardrop cutter FMM funky tappits 40.5cm (16in) square cake board star tool (to mark the cake board) circle cutter Cel stick``````and secure these around the sidesof your cake using glue, marking thegrains of the wood with a veining tool.4 Roll out a small amount of brownpaste, to cut out a medium size discand glue this onto the centre ofyour cake. Then glue small pea sizeamounts of grey paste around the disc,this will be the mud pit.Mould a small ball of pink modellingpaste to make a head shape and gluethis onto the disc. Place a small ballof pink paste onto the head for thesnout, adding two holes in the centreusing a Cel stick. Mark two holes forthe eyes above the snout, adding smallballs white and black paste. Glue twotiny strands of pink paste above theeyes for the eyebrows. Then mark themouth using a small cutting wheel.Add two pink sausage shapes for thearms and glue in position, add the earsusing a small rose petal cutter.Then attach small pieces of the brownpaste to add splats of mud onto the pig.5 Use any leftover green sugarpaste(both shades), to make up thestrands of grass and placeonto your cake and boardusing glue.Make up blossomsusing redand yellow``````1 Add bright green ProGel to whitesugarpaste and cover cake board.Mark star holes all over this using astar cone tool. Leave to dry.2 Add lime green ProGel tosugarpaste and cover yournumber one cake. Place thiscarefully onto yourcovered board.3 Make up all of your cakedecorations and models,using ProGel food coloursadded to modelling paste.Firstly cut out strips ofbrown modelling paste``````paste and both sizes of your blossomplunger cutters. Glue onto your cakeand board and then pipe into thecentres using royal icing.6 Cut out a curved oblong shape forthe pond using ice blue paste, addingtwo tiny yellow ducks on top. Mould thebody into a cone shape, curving the endupwards and a ball shape for the head.Glue a wing either side using a smallteardrop cutter. Mark the eyes usinga black edible pen and the beak bymoulding a tiny piece of orange pasteinto a cone shape and glue to the frontof the head.7 Make up the cow and horse modelsusing the white and brown paste,and mould each colour into sausageshapes for the legs, cone shapes forthe body and oval shapes for the head,making smaller cone shapes for theears. Use the main image to help youmark the face features and any othermarkings or details on both models.8 Add wording onto your cake board,using yellow paste, rolled out thinly andfunky Tappits.
