YOU WILL NEED### EDIBLES: 12 x vanilla cupcakes (or another palecoloured cake, recipes available onmy website) 250g vanilla buttercream (both dairyand vegan recipes available on mywebsite) 500g sugarpaste: white``````EQUIPMENT: marzipan spacers non-stick rolling pin 7cm round cookie cutter``````1 Begin by baking your cupcakes andallowing them to cool completely. Irecommend baking cupcakes in foilcases, which hold their colour andperfectly conceal the cake within. I haveused rose gold for this design.``````2 Prepare 250g of vanilla buttercreamand refrigerate until it becomeseasy to handle. Roll tablespoons ofbuttercream into golf ball sized balls.``````3 Place your rolled buttercream ontothe centre of each cupcake.``````Cake artist:Charlotte White``````5 Use marzipan spacers to ensure aneven thickness as you roll outthe sugarpaste.``````4 Knead 500g white sugarpaste untilwarm and malleable.``````6 Once you have rolled the sugarpasteto the thickness of the marzipanspacers, remove the spacers andcontinue to roll a few more times untilyour sugarpaste is around 3mm thick.``````8 Gently place a sugarpaste circle ontop of a cupcake (working one at atime) with the buttercream ball in thecentre of the circle.``````9 Carefully tease the edges of thesugarpaste down towards the edges ofthe cupcake, using your fingers. Work yourway around the edges, sealing the ball ofbuttercream inside the sugarpaste.``````10 Once you have been all around theedges of the cupcake, you should beleft with a domed top on your cupcake.To even out the dome and to create aperfectly smooth finish, simply cup yourhand on top of the cupcake and twistyour hand to smooth the sugarpaste.``````64 | September 2018 http://www.cakedecorationmagazine.co.uk``````7 Use a round cookie cutter a fewmillimetres larger than the top ofyour cupcake to cut out circles ofsugarpaste.
