Sacrifice bunt is given when a batter bunts, and the runner successfully
reaches the next base. It is normally played when runners are on first or
second, to send them to second and third.
If a runner is on first with no outs, at least two base hits are needed for a
single run. Instead if runner was on second with one out after a bunt,
runner can score only with a single base hit. Likely, if a runner on second
reached third with a sacrifice bunt, he can even score without any hits,
with a flyball or high ground ball.
