Since a team plays half of their season games at home, franchises often
believe that if their stadium is a little quirky, it is meant to benefit the
home team. In fact, professionals analyze their teams and players, and
adjust the field for maximum advantage. Any little edge you can create
for your team. One of the things that makes baseball just a little bit
different.

You might have realized that baseball fields generally are in a circular
sector shape, but their distance to left, center, and right field are all
different; the center field is always more deeper. It is not really a sector
anymore. In geometry, a definition of a sector is the “area between two
radiuses and the connecting arc of a circle”^7 . Additionally, the definition
of a circle is a “perfectly round shape'', where any point around its curve
is the same distance from its central point.^8 To analyze, the points in the
arc of a sector should be the same distance from its central point.
Applying this to baseball, the baseball field looks like a sector but it is not
theoretically because the center field is deeper than other parts of the
fence.

So why is the center field more deeper? The curvature provided by
having a larger dimension for centerfield makes it a safer environment for
players, is certainly more visually appealing. The most prominent reason
is playability. When you create that arc, power alley's are created, greater
amounts of fair territory provide for better defensive and offensive
interaction. All that leads to a more exciting fan experience due to the
complexities that distance creates within the game.^9

During over 100 years of American Baseball, there had been numerous
