From the figure we can tell it is a prism shape with a home plate as its
base. In geometry, a prism is a polyhedron comprising an n-sided
polygonal base, a second base which is a translated copy of the first, and
n other faces joining corresponding sides of the two bases. The formula
for the volume of a prism is V=Bh , where B is the base area and h is the

The area of the base is the area home plate. Home plate is made of one
rectangle and one right triangle. (let's assume that its distance and angles
are all correct) Its rectangle has a length of 17 inches and width of 8.5
