AFAMILY-FRIENDLYSPACE
In2012,fiveyearsaftertheyboughtthehouse,
thecouplegotstuckintocreatinga livingzone
thatwouldworkwellfortheirnewfamilyof
four.It includeda newkitchen,diningroomand
familyloungeinoneopen-planspace.It was
a bigjobandthefirsttimethey’dhadtomove
outduringrenovations,takingrefugeat Reece’s
parents’housefromdustandnoise.
It wasduringthisphaseoftherenovation
thatReeceandAimeemadetwoofthechanges
theyaremosthappywith:convertingtogas
forcookingandhotwater,andaddinga huge
Veluxfixedlow-pitchskylightinthedining
space,whichallowssunlighttofloodintothe
open-planarea.Thefamilyroomis nowoneof
Aimee’sfavouriteroomsinthehouse– you’ll
findherhunkereddownonthesofawitheither
a coffeeandmagazineora glassofwine,the
girlsneverfaraway.Therenowascompleted
withtheoverhauloftheirbathroomandlaundry
in 2015 and a few finishing touches in 2017.
