movieroomoffthemainlivingareawhich
couldbeclosedoffwhenthechildren,Ellie,
PippaandCooper,were playing or watching a
filmwithfriends.
Easyindoor-outdoorflowwasimportant,and
bigdoorsleadingouttofrontandreardecks
featuredprominentlyintheirplans.Plentyof
storage,includinga walk-inwardrobeinthe
mainbedroom,wasalsoa must-have.
THELAYOUT
“Thenewhouseis prettymuchinthefootprint
of theoriginalhouse,”saysKirsty.“Themain
differenceinlayoutbetweentheoldhouseand
thenewis thatthedownstairsis nowdedicated
toopen-planlivingareas,with a big kitchen area
asthehubof thehome.”
Thekitchen,diningandlivingrooms
openoutontothedecksviafivesetsoflarge
aluminiumandglassbifoldandFrenchdoors.
Thegroundlevelis completedbya powder
room,anoffice/bedroom,a laundryandgarage.
Theupstairslevelcomprisesfourbedrooms,
a mainbathroomandanotherlivingarea.The
mainbedroomhasanensuiteaswell as the
requestedwalk-inwardrobe.
THEDETAILS
Thehome’slight,airyfeelowesmuchtothe
Jobs’deftuseofwoodendetailing,alongwith
a minimalist,Scandinavian-styleaesthetic.
Verticaloakbattens,usedonthestaircaseand
asa screenbetweenthefrontentranceand
diningspace,createinterest,whileengineered
Italianoakflooringbringswarmthtothe
interior,whichis paintedlargelyinneutral
tones.Oaktimberpanellingcanalsobe found
onthefrontofthekitchenisland.
“Thescreenwassuggestedbyour
architecturaldesigner,”Kirstysays,“and
ourbuilderdidanamazingjobofputtingit
together.Wedecidedit was a feature we were
willing to splurge on.”
