Shemanagedthedesignandsourcingforthis
spaceandchosea colourschemeinspiredbyher
favouriteaccessory.“I wasboredbythehundreds
ofblackandwhitekitchensinmagazines and
justwantedsomecolour,”shesays.
“I havea Harry&Cohandbagwhichis a
beautifulmixof olivegreyandgreen,andI used
thisasmycolourpaletteacrossthehouse.The
kitchencupboardsaresoftgreen,whichblends
withthedarkergreenof theoutdoorroom,the
downstairsbathroomvanity,andourfire, which
is anamazingdeepforestgreen.”
Thestunningkitchenwasdesignedby
AmandaSmithDesign,withcabinetrycrafted
byEastwoodKitchens.“Therewasa bitof trial
anderrortogetthepaintfinishandwoodtexture
right,butwegotit perfect in the end. The
kitchenis sopretty!”
Hayleywantedthewhitecabinetrytolooka
littlelikea Mondriangeometricalpainting.She
optedtostreamlinethelookwithhandle-less
drawersandcupboardswhichlookgreatbut
“popopenwheneverthekidsslouchon them so
havetakensomegettingusedto”.
A dramaticsteelbenchis theperfect
contrasttothesoftcolourschemeandhas
beenwellworththedramait caused,says
Hayley.“Itwascompletelyterrifyingwatching
itsinstallation.Sevenmenliftedit upthrough
thewindowwithitssharp,mitrededgesjust
waiting to decapitate someone if they slipped!”
