in Grayson’s Art ClubGrayson’s Art Club broadcast on Channel
4 last year played a huge part in bringing
the nation together through art. Hosted by
Grayson Perry and his wife Philippa from his
own studio, the artist talked to other well-
known artists about their work and how
they were spending their time in lockdown,
inviting them to create artworks with a
different theme each week.
One of the key elements was the invitation
to members of the public to send Grayson
their own artworks via video calls, resulting
in nearly 10,000 entries in varying media and
subjects that really highlighted the creative
talent of the public. Many of these works,
alongside those of Grayson Perry, Philippa
Perry and the invited artists and celebrities
were brought together for an exhibition at
the Manchester Art Gallery, which opened
last November and was due to run until April
18, 2021. Obviously the exhibition has been
interrupted by the pandemic, but you still
have the chance to see many of the artworks
submitted – as well as those of celebrities and
professional artists, such as Jenny Eclair, Noel
Fielding, Joe Lycett, Vic Reeves, Liza Tarbuck,
Antony Gormley, Maggi Hambling, Raqib
Shaw and Chantall Joffe – by watching the
