t p FINISHED PAINTING
Wild Water, acrylic on board, 6 3 8in
(15 3 20.5cm).
Using the white acrylic straight from the tube
take your rigger and start to develop the
highlights in the falling water. Pull the brush
down the surface so you get a broken surface
and then with the paint diluted slightly flick in
some splashes here and there

t p STAGE FIVE
To work into the water you will need to dilute your
mixes to a very fluid consistency. Mix up the cobalt
blue with a touch of Indian yellow and, using the
round brush, lightly paint in the shadow areas of the
flowing water (above). Having established all the main
areas of the painting you are ready to go in with the
highlights and to update the darker areas

p STAGE SIX
Using the same creamy blue/brown mix as before start to overpaint the shadow areas of
the boulders – notice how this really punches colour in here. Try not to overmix the colours
as these areas of slightly broken colour give life to these areas. Continue until all the main
shadow areas are established in the rocks and the water
