Mads,eight,Lou,six,andZeger,four.Theirhomeis

closetothevillageofSanLorenzo,whereJurjenalso

hashisinteriordesignoffice,IbizaInteriors.The

surroundingsarea patchworkofgreenforest,almond,

oliveandpinetrees,andareasofredarableland,allof

whichbecomestheidyllicviewthefamilygettoenjoy

fromtheterraceoftheoldfinca.Thefincacamewith

anannexe,whichJurjendecidedtorenovateforguests.

‘It’snowusableforbothlivinganddining,andthere

wasevenenoughspacetoaddanextrabedroomand

bathroom,’hesays.Soonaftertheannexewasfinished,

thefamilymovedtothe200-year-old‘loft’located

downthehill,whichwastobecometheirnewhome.

‘WhenI firstvisitedthepropertyI couldseethatit was

a niceplace,butthebuildingwasratherdilapidated,’

saysJurjen.‘However,thearchitectinme always sees

opportunitiesinrundownbuildings.’

Aninteriorarchitectbytrade,Jurjenwaskeen

toexpandhisinteriorsbusinessesafterthemovefrom

Amsterdam,developingpropertiesandsellinghis

designerfurniture,carpets,beautifullightingfixtures

andcontemporaryartontheisland.Sowhenit came

todecidingontheinteriorofhisownnewhome,it is no

surprisethathechosetofurnishit withdesignclassics,

suchastheHansWegnerandEameschairs.Everything

was arranged to emphasise the extraordinary views over

design tip
