wemovedin,’saysGill.‘Itmakesthe

housefeelbiggerandgivesussomuch

livingspace.I loveditslight,airyfeel

fromthebeginning,butnowit has

morecharacteranddepth.’

Upstairs,tactilefabricsandmuted

colourshelpmakethebedroomsfeel

soothingandpeaceful.‘We’vekept

thebedroomstranquilbymixingup

naturalmaterials,’saysGill.‘Inour

room,there’sa lotofwoodandwe’ve

addedtexturewithnaturallinen.’

Downstairs,Gill’seclectictaste

andloveofcolourbringa modern,

bohemianedge.‘It’sdefinitelymore

colourfuldownstairs,’shesays.‘The

fabric,furnitureandrugsmakethe

sittingroomcosy,butwe’vekeptclutter

toa minimum.’Andsheaddsit need

notcosta fortunetoaddpersonality.

‘I loverummaginginsecond-hand

shops.Infact,I thinkpre-lovedfinds

addtothecharmofa house.Charity

shopsarebrilliantforfindingpicture

frames– andartdoesn’thavetobe

expensive.We’veframedkeepsakes

andthechildren’sartwork– they

allbringpersonalitytoourhome.’
