there is an enjoyable walk up to the top of the hills that
overlookthecamp.Yougeta wonderfulviewfromthe
topoverthewholearea,includingtheroadhouse.Canyon
roadhouse has an outdoor swimming pool very close to the
camp,aswellasa restaurantandpub.
OnecangetWi-Fiatthemainbuilding,andwoodcanbe
purchasedatreception.thelodgealsohasitsownfuel
station.Offcourse,theFishriver Canyon is only 14 km
fromCanyonroadhouse.

Don’tmakethemistakeofnotbookingatthiscampsite– it’s
extremelypopularamongNamibiancampers.thecampis
only2 kmawayfromthereception,restaurantandchalets
atKlein-ausvista, beautifully situated up in the embrace of
anamphitheatreofrockslookingoutoverthegrassplains
wherethewildhorsesoftheNamibroam.
the 10 campsitesatDesertHorsearespaciousandunder
theshadeoflargecamelthorntrees.the braai area for each
site is behind a neat wooden windbreak and is equipped with
a tap,anda largetablewithbenches.
Noelectricityisavailableatthecamp,buttherearesolar
lightsatthecleanandwell-keptablutionblock.the water
was piping hot around the clock although the campsite was
fully booked. If you don’t have an inverter or need something
charged you can do it at the Desert Inn reception.
Braai packs are also available at reception. Or take a break
from the nightly braai and have a meal at the restaurant.
