Spotlight on readers’ excellent images and how they captured them

depth and interest.

Mill Gill
1 This unusual composition
was taken as David leaned
over a footbridge. This heavily
wooded area lends itself to
long-exposure images.

scene has removed
distractions, and
avoided the sun being
too small. The wash
of pinky-red gives
the image a warm,
welcoming feel.

David Henderson, Selby, North Yorkshire
David started taking pictures with an Olympus OM10, but gave
up after a roll of holiday pictures came out blank. Once digital
came along, his interest was revived, and he’s never looked
back. He spends a great deal of time in his local landscape
in Yorkshire, and is as inspired by light as he is by the scenery.
‘I don’t like to plan things too much, as I often take pictures that I couldn’t
possibly have foreseen,’ he says. ‘Even if I don’t take any pictures all day,
who cares? Nothing beats a good scamper in God’s own country.’
