are cross sections of the kidneys. Although they may be of equal
size in your body, one might be placed higher than the other so
a cross section may make them appear dissimilar.
Note the CT scan shows the kidneys in relationship to the
other organs, whether pushed aside by a tumor or edema fluid.
Now compare the CT scan to an ultrasound of a single kidney.
The ultrasound shows
their typical oblong
shape, and ragged inter-
nal structure. It is a lot
easier to see a mass in
the ultrasound than CT.
There should be no out-
lines of masses any-
where.
