It was February 5, his last day. There had been no more pain nor bleed-
ing. His immune system had conquered the last release of bacteria. The final
blood test, done February 3, was reviewed with him. At last, his red cell
count had come up to 4.0. He was still anemic but much better. His kidney
function was now perfect. The LDH had dropped further, but still wasn’t low
enough to feel totally secure. The alk phos appeared stable.
Calcium and uric acid were still too low, implying bacteria in the para-
thyroids; they should be searched for. He had not been doing enemas as he
should. He was instructed to help his bowel function with Lugol’s enemas
once a day, just to get the bacterial level down. Triglycerides and cholesterol
were now normal.
Only the new ultrasound remained to be seen. And the new PSA result.
While he was attending to these, his new dentures were tested for tumor
toxins. There were none. He arrived with ultrasound in hand! The size of his
prostate was now 4.45 x 4.65 cm and no tumor was visible.
He began to laugh with joy. He could hardly believe all his good for-
tune! His PSA result had arrived, too. It had dropped from 23.2 to 19.2 in
three weeks.
