normally conclude before 10pm.
Currently, though, during this pandemic
situation, the society’s meetings are being
held on the Zoom platform.

Do you invite guest speakers?
Yes. This year has been more restrictive, but
recently Darren Juggins, a Lincoln
professional photographer, gave a Zoom talk
about the challenges of his profession.
Another Zoom speaker, Charles Thody, gave
a talk on deep sky imaging which was
extremely interesting.

Do members compete in regional or
national competitions?
The society is a member of the PAGB, and is
af liated to the local N&EMPF, and LPA
organisations. The society competes in the

N&EMPF and Fosters Challenge competitions
and enters ‘friendly’ inter club competitions.

How many members do you have?
We currently have 17 members.

Are any residential trips or outings
planned?
The society has regular outings to local
nature reserves, often in the beautiful
Lincolnshire Wolds, or on the extensive North
Sea coast, to photograph landscapes, plants,
birds, and small insects. A ghost walk was
held in Lincoln last year, as well as an outing
to a local heritage steam railway.

Do you have any funny stories
about the club?
During one meeting many years ago, someone

walked into the meeting asking if we were
Alcoholics Anonymous, to which someone
remarked, ‘He’s not anonymous any more.’
The present president caused the portrait
rules to be changed after winning with a head
shot of a herring gull.
A member of the public asked for a
volunteer to go up in a two-seater aircraft to
photograph Louth canal quite a few years
ago. On turning up the pilot had been told an
ex-RAF photographer was doing the job. That
took a bit of living up to, especially when my
main camera packed up and I had to rely on
my trusty old Olympus OM1n and 50mm lens.

What are the club’s goals for the future?
The society would like to attract new
members and have a greater presence in the
local annual N&EMPF competition.
