OCELOT – MINECRAFT

Ocelots are the wild cats found in
Minecraft, though you can tame one
and turn it into a tabby. First you have
to attract it with raw fish, and even then
there’s a good chance it will just take the
sushi and scram. Once you do manage to
tame your ocelot friend, though, it gains
the frankly amazing ability to teleport

  • rift-walking their way to the player if
they’re too far away. Like real cats, who
probably can’t teleport, they seem to like
sitting on things, and frequently get up
on chests and stuff and just sit there,
judging you. Such is the presence of cats
in Minecraft, in fact, that no session is
complete without the constant sound of
purring and meowing to accompany your
    crafting, digging and building joy.

NIBBLES –

THE WITCHER 3:

WILD HUNT

When the Bloody Baron asks Geralt to track down his family,
he tracks the Baron’s daughter, Tamara, down to the city of
Oxenfurt. As Tamara comes down the stairs, the cutscene
lingers on Geralt’s interaction with a grey tabby sitting on
the table. This is Nibbles, and he sure is cute. But hang
on, aren’t cats supposed to hate Witchers? More weirdly,
Nibbles can be spotted in a number of other quests, leading
fans to theorise that Nibbles is more than he appears. Is he
a manifestation of Ciri’s dreams through which she sees
Geralt’s activities? The truth is simpler. CDPR cinematic
artist Kajetan Kapuściński told Kotaku that Nibbles is “a
filmmaking trick due to a technical necessity” and the team
liked him so much they kept putting him into scenes.
