Psychonauts? Everyone
is now retrospectively
aware of the 2005
adventure’s virtues in the voice acting,
writing and sheer imagination stakes – and
yet, have you ever seen a copy of it out in
the wild? If Tim Schafer has his way, and
indeed if justice is done, Psychonauts 2 will
enjoy much broader adoption.

f there’s one thing
Rainbow Six is good at –
and there isn’t just one
thing – it’s revitalising
itself. Quarantine is
a radical change in
direction towards PvE survival horror, but
look further back through the franchise
timeline and you’ll see it’s reinvented
itself more times than Madonna. What
was a strategic shooter with a planning
phase where you plotted the movements of
squads became an action-oriented shooter
by the mid-’00s, which turned into Counter-
Strike with holes in the wall with Siege.
What we know about Quarantine so far
is that it’s being made by a new team at
Ubisoft Montreal which wants this game
to be “what Siege is for the PvP shooter”
in the PvE co-op genre. Players will band
together as trios against an unnerving
technological parasite. There are some
thematic similarities to the Outbreak mode
from Siege, though we haven’t seen any
gameplay just yet. All we know is this might
be the first Rainbow Six we’re a bit scared

his lifelong dream and joins the elite
Psychonauts spy organisation. Although
Raz will be a familiar face, his look
has been given a revamp, and as
for the setting – well, perhaps we
shouldn’t have been surprised to
find our hero jumping around within a
surreal-looking mouth-scape. We’ve
got... questions... when Psychonauts 2
arrives some time in 2020, but we also
have full faith in Double Fine to once again
make us laugh, gasp, and bang on about
