ABSTRACT
The continuous improvement of the overall performance of an organization should
be a permanent objective. It should be part of the culture of the organization and of each
employee. This requires systems of monitoring and evaluation methods to find areas of
potential improvement. It’s important to create goals guidance to guide improvements
and screening methods to evaluate them. Only this way the progress will be recognized.
Typically, the effective decisions are based on analysis of data and information. This
principle should lead the decision making, in order to be based on data instead of
intuition. This assumes that the data and information collected are accurate and reliable
for the ones who need them. Once, nowadays the efficiency and productivity are two
essentials principles for any organization, it is important to have a complete control over
the irregularities or inefficiencies that are increasing the unproductive hours.
According to a recent study by ACCII (Associated Chambers of Commerce and
Industry of India), about 12.5% of the productivity of the business sector is diverted to
activities on social networking sites. Economists believe that the low productivity rates
in Portugal are due to factors such as work organization, lack of training and
technology.
Currently, domestic market control systems and optimization of human and
technological resources, which are based on usage of logs obtained automatically, are
unknown. Internationally there are some solutions that allow you to monitor the use of
computer equipment. So the idea is to develop a Business Intelligence tool responsible
for the process of collecting, organizing, analyzing, monitoring and sharing of
information that support business management. It will be a non-invasive tool, based on
a management perspective, and which provides employers and especially Managers,
detailed statistics on employee productivity and efficiency of technology within their
organizations. It will be used a client / server model taking into account that the solution
will require reliability, security, ease of management and scalability.
The ability of continuous monitoring enables monitoring tool constantly to record the
traces of applications and internet use within the business environment, helping, through
a web interface at any time or location to quickly identify areas of abuse or neglect. It
will be a comprehensive tool of observation, thus making it a valuable asset within any
organizational infrastructure, promising a quick return on investment. Through
monitoring, it also enables adapting to new business challenges, increasing its flexibility
and its consequent competitiveness by improving their processes, reducing waste,
increasing productivity and resource efficiency.
