Aiming for Perspicacious Perspicacity

(reveredp) #1

One day soon when all is ready
I'll spin a womb of virgin silk,
Give my self up to dreams,
and hope for the best.

I'll break out into beauty, my role on this earth
Traversing and caressing the world gently
Receiving and returning reverence wherever I go.”

“But continued the pillar growing quite intense,
"Please, friends, don't be deceived
By the dark intrigues of the devious spider.

He lusts for your trust to entrap you
In bonds that will release you only as meat.
His joy is not simply to kill and consume
His fascination is your writhing in terrible terror
As you fatally realize your innocent error.

When he contemplates his delicate constructions,
He's determining their potential for ultimate reductions,
Their ability to choke out life and breath,
Insuring slow, but certain, death.

“He'd have you ignore the functions of forms
And embroil you in a web of enticing charms.
From his temptations flee with cautious alarm
For you all deserve better than his feral arms.”

“Hear! Hear!” came from here and there,
Except where the scowling spider
Was retreating to a dark hole in the floor.

Sighing, resignedly, the others returned
To their still desperate muddlings
Over their spirits once more.
