Apart from the area, they are used; all the otherprocesses of measuring bp are the same for all.
The digital pressure monitor uses the pressure pumpto inflate the air bladder cuff, similar to
what is done manually. It is inflated until the pressureis greater than systolic so that no blood
flows through arteries. Then the pressure is graduallyreduced with the help of a digitally
controlled solenoid valve until the blood starts flowing;this pressure is stored as systolic blood
pressure. The pressure is then reduced until thereis no restriction in blood flow, and this
pressure is stored as diastolic blood pressure. Also,the benefit of this digital bp monitor is that it
also measures the pulse rate. This whole cycle iscontrolled by the microprocessor.
All the pressures are measured by a pressure sensorwhich is then amplified. Now the data
collected from the sensor is analog, and it is neededto be converted into digital so that it is
understandable. This is done by ADC (Analog-to-DigitalConverter). After converting this data to
digital, it is displayed on LCD (liquid-crystal display) and stored in memory.
