and add a touch of country to your holiday decor.
The finished design would be just as
pretty displayed in a picture frame.
Rnd 1: (Beg shell, sc) in ring.
[(Shell, sc) in ring] twice. Shell
join in ch-3 sp at top left of Motif
3 of row 5, sc in ring. Shell join
in ch-3 sp at top right of same
Motif, sc in ring. Join in top of
beg ch-3. Fasten off. (3 shells,
2 shell joins, 5 sc)

Tree Base

With brown, rep Motif 3, work-
ing shell joins in unworked ch-
sps of center motif of row 1.

Ornaments

Make 10 between joins of
Motifs & 10 in sc between
shells of Motifs of rows 2–5.

With burgundy and leaving a
2-inch tail, make a slip ring
(see illustration), ch 2, 9 hdc in
ring. Pull tail to close ring. Join
in top of beg ch-2. Ch 1, sl st
around join between Motifs or
in sc between shells of Motif (see
photo for placement). Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY & FINISHING

Optional: Trim ends after block-
ing to prevent short tails from
unraveling.

Block Christmas tree.

Pillow Cover

Cut 2 pieces of fabric, each
15 inches square. Center Christ-
mas tree on RS of front piece and

invisibly tack in place with

sewing thread. With 1/2-inch

seam allowance and RS held

tog, sew front and back pieces

tog, leaving 6-inch opening on

1 edge. Turn cover RS out and

insert pillow form. Sew open-

ing closed. CW
