une is the best time for
whizzing down – and
puffing up – a few
country lanes on your
bike with friends.
When the sun is gently
warming, and before the wasps are
out in force to spoil the post-ride
eating. If you’re the organised type,
a little planning in the picnic
department really pays off. It’s not
hard to put together a couple of
Italian-style antipasti sandwiches
the night before and leave them in
the fridge for the f lavours to mingle
and the olive oil to soak into the
bread. A batch of cheesy, herby
muffins alongside will go down a
treat, too, when you’re plonked on a
sunny bank among the wildf lowers.
To pop in your pocket for the ride
home, we reckon our apricot and
almond bars are just the job. »
