QINGDAO HAIER, A SUBSIDIARY OF HAIER GROUP, was recently named one of Fortune’s
most admired companies in the world for 2019 and is the only appliance company from
Asia to receive this award. This recognition came shortly after becoming one of Fortune’s
global 500 companies. These successes are a reflection of the core value of the Rendan-
heyi model, which maximizes the value of people.
Literally, Ren (ĉ) means employees or people; Dan means value of users; Renda-
nheyi means every employee works directly with customers to create value for them, and
in the process, the employee’s own value is realized.
Haier’s innovation is centered around user needs and the company works with users
and resources to co-create and win together. With the Rendanheyi model, Qingdao Haier
empowers every employee to be their own entrepreneurial “CEO.” At the same time, the
company has established ecosystems that center around users and allow innovation to
continuously provide users with the best solutions globally.

In practice, the Haier Rendanheyi model
has been proven locally in many countries
and regions including the U.S., Australia, and
Japan. Using the Rendanheyi model, Fisher
& Paykel was reorganized into 10 micro-
enterprises. Their open platform allows cus-
tomers to participate in the design and R&D
of the products. In Australia, according to the
world-renowned research company GfK, the
market share of clothes dryers reached 25%,
which ranked No. 1.
In the U.S., GE Appliances positions
itself as a “two-year-old start-up company.”
Through transformation and cross-functional
cooperation, its washing machine micro-
enterprise is now able to “respond to market
needs within 24 hours.” GE Appliances’
products are the appliance of choice for
more than half of homes in the U.S.. In Japan,
Haier has transformed the Sanyo culture
from “obey your boss” to “user is the boss.”
Having learned from the community laundry
model in China, AQUA has rolled out its
commercial community laundry appliances,
leading the segment in Japan with 73%
market share.
Corporate social responsibility is one of
the attributes upon which Haier was rated
one of the most admired companies. Haier
has done a remarkable job on that front
since 1995. The company has contributed
millions of dollars to building 286 Haier Hope
primary schools across China, as well as one
Haier Hope middle school. In addition, Haier
has been providing the students with healthy
food and environment.
With the Rendanheyi model, Qingdao
Haier is committed to putting users at the
center of everything they do and has been
leading the transition from the world’s No. 1
appliance brand to the world’s No. 1 Internet
of Things (IoT) home ecosystem brand.
According to latest statistics published by
Euromonitor in 2019, Haier has been ranked
No. 1 in the global appliance industry for 10
consecutive years. By localizing smart home
solutions globally to better meet the demand
for intelligent living, Haier has become the
global leader in transitioning from a home
appliance brand to a smart-home ecosystem
brand. Q
