Nina E. (Sites) Herring,
age 86, formerly of
Lakeview Drive, Gettysburg,
PA, departed this life on
March 30, 2021 at 11:
a.m.
Mrs. Herring was the wife
of the late Fred M. Herring
and the daughter of the late
John W. and Daisy (Currens)
Sites. She was born on May
22, 1934 in the Mt. Hope
area of Fairfield, PA.
Nina was a member of St.
John Lutheran Church of
Fairfield since the 1970’s
after living in West Virginia
and Michigan and attending
Methodist churches at those
locations where she was
involved as a Sunday School
and Bible School teacher.
She also served the
community as a Cub Scout
leader and United Way
volunteer. She had been
active in her support of St.
John by serving on the alter
guild and ushering on a
regular basis.
A 1952 graduate of
Gettysburg High School,
Nina had been a dedicated
wife and mother. She
supported her husband in his
career efforts, guided her
sons into successful
adulthood and assisted in the
care of her father, her aunts
and her mother-in-law. She
will be remembered for her
love of family and friends,
especially for the fun times
with her golf and bridge
players.
An avid golfer, she was a
longtime member of the
Gettysburg Country Club
and also enjoyed golfing
with her Good Friends
traveling group. She also
enjoyed traveling which took
her to most states and many
foreign countries.
She is survived by her two
sons and their wives, Dr.
Chris and Cindy Herring of
Caledonia, and David andNorma Herring of
Gettysburg, PA; three
grandchildren and their
spouses, Jennifer and David
Dakin of Byron Center, Amy
and Ryan Adams of Dewitt,
and John Herring of
Muskegon; five great-
granddaughters and one
great-grandson, Annalyn,
Jordan and Harper Dakin,
and Natalie, Ava and Landon
Adams. Also surviving are
her sister and husband,
Lorraine and Carroll Wilt of
Gettysburg, PA, and brother
and wife, John W. Sites, Jr.
and Joan of Ellicott City,
MD.
Nina was preceded in
death by two infant sons; her
much beloved husband,
Fred; sister, Faye Slusser of
Fairfield, PA.
A memorial service and
interment for Fred and Nina
will be held at 1 p.m. on
Saturday, April 10, 2021 at
the Fairfield Union
Cemetery, Fairfield, PA. The
family will receive friends at
the cemetery prior to the
service.

Michael Patrick Cravero,
Jr., age 78, of Middleville,
passed away on March 28,- Michael was born on
September 24, 1942, the son
of Michael P. and Doris
(Mihalciuc) Cravero, Sr.
Michael was a graduate of
St. Mary’s High School in
Royal Oak. He served in the
Michigan National Guard
and worked for Bradford
White Corporation. On
April 11, 1970, Michael
married Cheryl Pence, and
they enjoyed 50 years
together.
Michael liked to hunt,
fish and golf. He was a
member of the Michigan
Historical Society and the
Middleville United
Methodist Church.
Michael was preceded in
death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife,
Cheryl D. Cravero;
daughters, Amy (Chuck)
Christensen and Emily
Cravero; granddaughter,
Claire Christensen;
grandson, Kyle Christensen;
sister-in-law, Rebecca Pence
Uran and brother-in-law,
Robert Uran.
A funeral service was

Arleen “Hattie” Stauffer,
age 92, of Middleville, went
to her heavenly home on
Sunday, March 21, 2021.
She grew up in
Jamestown. She and her
husband ran a bicentennial
dairy farm in Caledonia.
She enjoyed tennis, bowling,
playing cards, and especially
spending time with her
family.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Austin
(Wilbur) Stauffer; her son,
Danny Lou Stauffer; great-
grandson, Zachary Bolt;
siblings: Beverly Moseler,
Bud Beek.
She will be lovingly
remembered by her children,
Larry Lee and Hendricka
Stauffer, Barbara Lynn and
Ronald Venema; daughter-
in-law, Janice Stauffer; six
grandchildren; 19 great
grandchildren; 11 great great
grandchildren; siblings:
Ronald and Doris Beek,

Funeral services will be
held 11 a.m. Wednesday,
April 14, 2021 at Peace

William “Bill” Mark
Schenkel was greeted in
Heaven on Wednesday,
March 24, 2021 by his dad,
Fred; mom, Sandra; brother,
Rick; sister, Sandy (Sis); and
crazy fur baby, Shelby.
Bill will be remembered
by brother, Fred (Pam);
sister-in-law, Denise; nieces:
Ricci (Frank), Brandie;
nephews: Eric, Benjamin;
great nephew, Christian;
dearest lifelong friend,
Sharla; and many family and
friends.
Billy’s life began on
January 23, 1967. He was a
1985 TK graduate. Bill was
a musician whose adventures
led him to be known as
“Wild Bill from
Middleville”. He moved to
Florida in 2003 to be closer
to Sis. Due to medical
reasons, yet still jamming,
he returned back to
Middleville in 2017.
“Wilbur”, as Sis called
him, had a funny sense of
humor, keen insight for
music, incredible song
writing abilities, and played
numerous instruments-
excelling at the guitar. Bill’s
gift for music was proven bythe way he performed Neil
Young’s music. Sandra
adored Billy’s musical
techniques, but Fred (Fritz)
maybe not so much.
Bill’s Farewell Tour will
take place on Saturday, April
24, 2021 at Fred and Pam’s
home from 2pm-6pm. Please
wear a concert shirt and let’s
reminisce. Per Bill’s request,
please bring your own

On the morning of
Saturday, March 27, 2021,
Susan “Sue” Stocker
(Fawcett), loving wife,
mother of three and
grandmother of nine, passed
away at the age of 74.
Sue was born on April 12,
1947 in Newark, NJ to Hugh
and Margaret (Hageman)
Fawcett.
She is survived by her
husband of 44 years, Ralph
Stocker; her three sons Marc
(Sara), Brad (Jamie), and
Ralph (Janet); and her nine
grandchildren.
From Haslett, MI to
Panama, Sue was always
able to make a quick friend
wherever she went
(something that came in
useful as a military wife) and
she kept in touch with
friends and family no matter
how far apart they moved.
Sue enjoyed spending
summers at the family
cottage on Basset Lake in
Middleville, making great
memories of swimming,
fishing, playing games and
enjoying each other’s
company. She was a
Michigan State Spartan fan
through and through - even
saying “Go Green Go
White” right near the end.
Her family takes comfort in
the fact that she is likely
sitting at the beach in heaven
and already digging into an
endless supply of clams on
the half shell and garlic
bologna.
