It might be a bit silly given that it's not that big a deal... A lot of times,
acquaintances or relatives have made jokes about me being Asian and
commenting on my facial features. Some have even toldme that my
good grades were due to me being Chinese. The worstis that they
actually believed it and there was no ill will behindit. I wish I would
have said something instead of complying and acceptingthis because
now they think they can say anything and I'm supposedto go along and
laugh.
It's just about stepping up and saying out loud whatyou really
feel/think. It's about showing people who you trulyare, independently
of your ethnicity. Because stereotypes do not defineyou.
So yeah, I would have tried to voice my opinion abit louder because
everyone's different.
To someone.
Be proud of yourself and don't let anyone drag youdown or speak ill of
you because of your background. You're doing greatand you have
nothing to prove to anyone. Stay true to yourself.Accept your ethnicity
as part of yourself.
