“Yellow”.
Yellow for me is something people (npoc mostly) wouldassociate me
with in high school, as a “social frame” enhancingEast-Asian
stereotypes.
“Asian”.
When I think about being Asian the first thing thatcomes to my mind is
the genetic and cultural part. I also believe howeverthat ethnicity is
such broad spectrum so it’s impossible to say who’sallowed and not
allowed to call themselves Asian. For example If amixed person is
partly of Asian heritage then call themselves Asianthey’re not
wrong(because there is no “technical right” nor rule,yet at least). But if
the person in question grew up with no asian traditionsor customs,
doesn’t speak their native language and were bornwith only “white
features”, they’re not seen as Asian by society inmost cases even
though they have the same amount of “Asian genes”as someone who
would be “classified” as Asian. What brings Asianstogether is usually
shared cultural traditions or unfortunately sharedexperiences of how
they’ve been mis treated by non poc.
