Sacroiliac joint

The sacroiliac joint is the junction where the sacrum meets and joins with the large fan-
like pelvic bone at the back. Sacroiliac joint pain is responsible for less than 5% of cases
of persistent low back pain. Most typically, it is associated with back pain during
pregnancy.

Muscles and ligaments

We have already discussed this in the last chapter. Poor posture or mechanical injury
can damage muscles and ligaments of the spine. Injury to muscle attachments may fail
to heal quickly, leading to long term (chronic) inflammation.
