Make sure you

medical problem
before starting
exercises

Also, if you have heart disease and/ or severe hypertension (high blood pressure) or a
medical condition that does not permit these type of exercises, take the advice of your
physician before starting. If you are in any doubt whether you can do these exercises,
take this book to your doctor.


YOU SHOULD NOT DO THESE EXERCISES IF YOU HAVE:



  1. Severe nerve tissue involvement such as:
    a. Entrapment of nerve root with intolerable pain
    b. Cauda equina syndrome
    c. Spinal cord compression
    d. Tumors of the spinal column
    e. Any evidence of red flags

  2. Disorders of the spine:
    a. Severe instability
    b. Severe osteoporosis
    c. Fresh fracture
    d. Any evidence of red flags

  3. Systemic diseases (general disorders of the body):
    a. Severe heart disease
    b. Any other serious illness
    c. Generalized infection of the body

  4. Infection of the intervertebral disc or vertebra

  5. Recent major operation for any other condition

  6. Severe psychological disturbance or psychiatric disease


Caution No. 2


DO NOT BEND TO TOUCH YOUR TOES!! Bending forwards is fraught with danger
as there is a real risk of disc herniation. It can aggravate an already affected spine.
Full sit-ups with fixed feet and bent knees should also be discouraged as this:
