Say Goodbye to Back Pain

(mdmrcog) #1

PREFACE

Back pain is one of the most common disorders affecting half the population of the
world at any point in time. It is amongst the leading causes for absenteeism from work.
It is also responsible for a colossal wastage of manhours of work and costs billions of
dollars in lost revenue worldwide.

I am aware that there are many, many books and magazine articles, not to mention
millions of web pages on back pain. The fact is that if so much information is available
freely to everyone, then why do so many people still suffer from back pain year on year?
It is obvious that the current literature suffers from one or more of a number of
deficiencies that have not been addressed so far.

Most other informative materials on the subject do not give a proper understanding to
the layman i.e. YOU and ME, of the anatomy and physiology of the backbone and relate
it to the causative factors for pain in a clear, concise and simple manner, explaining any
medical terms that may be used. This is essential in order to know where and why the
pain originates so that we can attack the root cause and eliminate pain. This book
does that. In addition, very few give a comprehensive overview of which treatments are
good and which ones are simply useless or positively harmful. This book does that.
Hardly any books are written from the victim’s point of view that tells the victim what to
do when suffering from back pain. I will not say again that this book does th at, BUT IT
DOES.

Having spent the best part of the last ten years going through a mountain of material, I
felt the need for a single, detailed, final reference source that would cover all of the
above aspects and act as a friend and companion for anyone suffering from back pain.
To condense this vast amount of information into a readable, pocket-sized book posed a
tremendous challenge.
