BUCH-250 Years of the Order of St. Stanislas -Online Version

(Freiherr) #1

The purpose of the Order activity is to reward prominent citizens of the world, who with their selfless work
contribute in different spheres of activity to the strengthening of mutual understanding between people,
affirmation of ideals of humanism, charity, defence of rights and freedom of man.

This is on account of many activities in providing humanitarian relief and promoting inter-faith dialogue. This is
achieved both by raising much needed funds and by putting the volunteer efforts and expertise of its members
at the disposal of good causes all over the world.

Any active members can be promoted and hence be rewarded for faithful service to historic traditions of Chivalry
and its ideals, prominent contribution into the strengthening of friendly international relations and noticeable
activity in the areas of international aid, cooperation, historical heritage, and charity, — with an insignia of one
of the five grades of the Order of Saint Stanislas.

The main goals of the Order are:

  • Promoting mutual understanding, respect, and justice between people.

  • Provide aid and charity to the less fortunate and those who are disadvantaged,
    especially children and youth.

  • Respect each person’s right to freedom in the practice of his or her faith.

  • Being a forum for like-minded individuals where everyone can meet and practice these
    goals.

A Noble person is one who has a dignified heart and an excellence of mind - a reverent soul exalted in character,
demeanour, and presence: one who undertakes an act of bona fide charity or heartfelt goodwill without want of
favour, recognition, or reward; one who selflessly offers and renders assistance without pretence, out of
unconditional generosity - for the love of mankind, without desiring affection, praise, or reverence in return. The
present day the Order seeks to bring greater understanding between all people by affirming the brotherhood of
all people under one God and Creator; to uphold and maintain the chivalric traditions of the early Orders; to
provide service to humanity by charity toward those in need, to recognize such service as worthy of our
emulation and to affirm, even at peril, the dignity and freedom of each person.

On the 9 June 1979, the Order of Saint Stanislas was
re-established in five classes to commemorate the
900th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Stanislas
of Szczepanów, Bishop of Krakow by the Polish
Government's (In Exile) which was based in London. It
was decided to give the Order an independent status.
It was therefore transferred from an originally Polish
Order into an international charitable Order of
Chivalry.

Membership into the Order of Saint Stanislas is by
invitation from a member in good standing. The Order
is made up of men and women of all faiths who believe
in one God Almighty and share a common concern for
their fellow man. The Order itself reflects chivalry in its
purest form; that is "people helping people", it derives
its legitimacy as an Order of Knighthood from the
nobility of the ideals it seeks to promote.

The modern Order, The Order of St. Stanislas,

a twenty-first century order of knighthood.
