Auxiliary transport to Poland on 12th April 2011

ENDINGEN. On 12 April, the next aid transport of the
"Help instead of throwing away" initiative to Poland will
take place. This is the 45th transport that the initiative,
which has been in existence for 15 years, is launching.
Help is still needed. Indeed, although Poland scored with
stability and growth even during the economic crisis, an
estimated 13 million Poles, almost 35 percent of the
population, live in poverty.

It often affects families with many children, single
women, and the elderly. Children are deprived of a fair
chance for the future by poverty. The partner
organization of the relief initiative is the Society of
Friends of the Children (TPD) in Warsaw. It cares for
children of needy families and social orphans in
children's homes and day care centers as well as street
children. The donations from Germany are distributed
to the own care centers, but also to other social
institutions and to families in special need.

More than 300 families and their children can be helped
per transport, the TPD emphasizes in a letter to the
initiative. Thanks to the help from Germany, the
standard of living of several thousand children and
young people has improved. "Their commitment helps
change the lives of others," the TPD writes.

They give them hope and strength." With the relief
supplies, they have also been able to build a new care
center for young people in a village and improve the
equipment of other facilities.

Once again, special goods are collected for a single
mother of four. The mother, who is also suffering from
severe health problems, is particularly vulnerable
because of the illness of two of her children – the seven-
year-old son suffers from severe asthma and his older
brother suffers from a heart defect and a congenital
bowel disease. For more information on what is being
specifically sought for the family, please contact
Ingeborg Hojer.

The following donations in kind are accepted for the
transport of aid: clothing for adults, adolescents and
children, bed linen, new shoes (used may not be
imported), electrical and household appliances,
refrigerators, washing machines, curtains, sleeping
beds, sofa beds / couches, French beds, bunk beds,
mattresses (new), wall colors, bicycles, disassembled
able furniture, such as shelves, dining table and chairs,
wheelchairs and rehabilitation equipment, hygiene
articles and cleaning products, wood motor saw.

The initiative urges that only functional and clean
donations be made. Donation account to cover
transport costs: Account "Help instead of throw away",
Kto. Nr. 22022286, Sparkasse Freiburg Nord, Breisgau.
