For many of us, waiting for medical attention
can be an uncomfortable, nerve-racking
experience. More often than not, patients find
themselves waiting well over 15 minutes, no
matter where in the world they are. Designers
address the inconvenience of all whose patience
wears thin during visits to the doctor. How can
design make the wait more pleasurable? These
projects are on it. – LGM
Caimi Brevetti’s high-back Snowsofa minimizes the possibility of visual and acoustic
disruption. Designer Sezgin Aksu utilized Snowsound Fiber acoustic fabric to ensure
the utmost comfort, while departing from the traditional look of furniture for clinics
and other medical facilities.

Designed by local firm MMEK, the Princess Máxima Center is located in the Dutch city of Utrecht. The vast
complex focuses on transforming the healthcare experience for children with cancer. Opportunities for play
and communication with peers help uplift young patients as they continue their treatment.
