exploration of the circular economy, a much-
needed blueprint for the future of temporary
structures. ‘All aspects of this project are
connected to the idea of the circular econ-
omy,’ said Humberto Campana, cofounder of
Campana and Instituto Campana, while also
praising the bistro’s ‘poetic aesthetic’.
The final verdict, delivered by
Overtreders W cofounder Hester van
Dijk, summed up the jury’s deliberatons:
‘Appearing as merely an enticing interior
concept, this tiny aesthetic cave could
set an example for the trade-show world,
where materials are still disposed of with-
out further thought.’ – AM

NEW YORK CITY – Unfortunately, it’s still
common in the event and trade-fair indus-
tries to discard materials used to build tem-
porary structures. With this in mind, the jury
singled out Zero Waste Bistro, a restaurant
and event space by Finnish designer Linda
Bergroth for NYCxDesign.
Although jury members questioned
some of her design choices – for instance,
she furnished the space with Artek products
rather than employing the structure’s ReWall
