DYNAMIC DINING
Restaurants see a lot of action,
transition – and people – in the course
of the day. That’s why spatial versatility
is a must. Whether it be the lighting
or seating, efficient, modular design
enables restauranteurs to maximize
their space and thus the experience of
diners. These projects pose means for
creating a front of house that’s both
flexible and compelling, from breakfast
to dinner. – LGM
Alex Gufler’s YYY coffee tables for Czech company
Ton marry whimsy with utility. From below, the leg
design forms a ‘Y’, hence the name. Up on the table
top, a flat edge gives the pieces their distinctive
shape and makes it easier to place the tables
against a wall or other furniture.

From American company Chemetal, Treefrog is a collection of more than 30
prefinished, real-wood veneer laminates. The laminate processing ensures that
each sheet is identical, bringing consistent surfacing to hospitality spaces – take,
for example, the bar of the AC Hotel by Marriott in Minnesota’s Mall of America.

Embodying a long LED beam, the elements of the Belt lighting fixture by
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Flos are made uniformly from belts of leather.
Sections can be added to the element as needed or desired, to elongate the
seemingly boundless line of illumination.
