Working with layers

Layers allow you to organize and more easily select artwork. Next, using the Layers panel, you’ll

start to organize your artwork.

1. Choose Window > Layers to show the Layers panel to the right of the document.

2. Double-click the text “Layer 1” (the layer name) in the Layers panel. Type Background, and
   press Return or Enter to change the layer name.
