A potential problem with the chart type is that some slices are so small that the data labels
can’t be displayed.
Treemap charts
With the release of Excel 2016, treemap charts were included as a chart type. Like a sun-
burst chart, a treemap chart is suited for hierarchical data. The data, however, is repre-
sented as rectangles. Figure 20.40 shows the data from the previous example, plotted as a
treemap chart.
Funnel charts
Funnel charts are new with Excel 2019. Funnel charts are ideal for representing the relative
values in each stage of a process. These charts are typically used to visualize sales pipelines
(see Figure 20.41).
