triple tops with rising base and triple bottoms with
Falling top
Just as for rising double top formations, triple top formations that are accompa-
nied by a rising or ascending pattern of Os and Xs at the base of the formation
are considered more bullish than standard triple top formations. See Figure 15.20
for the basic setup and Figure 15.17 for an example of a triple top breakout with
a rising base in Chesapeake Energy Corp.
Triple top formations that are accompanied by a falling pattern of Os and
Xs at the top of the formation are considered more bearish than standard
triple bottom formations. See Figure 15.21 for the basic setup.
It is important to note that, regardless of how many rising or falling columns
within such formations, the actual triple top or bottom breakout itself comprises
only five columns.
