Quantification of proteinuria (e.g., ≥5 g on a 24 h urine collection) is no longer used as a finding
indicating a severe feature of preeclampsia. Proteinuria may even be absent, yet the diagnosis still
can be made if there is new onset of hypertension with evidence of maternal jeopardy.
