Mark & Julia Amhurst
Mark and Julia met in college while attending an
event raising funds for childhood cancer research.
Fast forward and you find the couple is heavily
engaged in their community.
The couple have two kids, Preston (16) and Bella
(14), who have friends over nearly every day and
the family is often hosting events. Mark is an avid
hunter but locks his guns up in safes, unloaded. He
doesn’t keep ammunition in the house, simply
because they always have people coming
and going.
When Julia decided to go back to working her
business full-time, her mom Sherrie moved into
the guest house. Sherrie takes the kids to and from
private school and activities when Julia and Mark
are working. Julia’s office is not far from home and
Mark drives into the city for work each day.
While Preston and Bella have access to a lot of
support and resources, they have friends who don’t
have the same. Some have substance, behavior or
mental health concerns in the home or deal with
those themselves. The idea that something like
mental health issues or suicide could be a concern
in their inner circle doesn’t cross their lips or minds.
