Why?
Trust was a major theme we heard in our IDI’s and
there are numerous factors that can affect it. Our
research shows the key to building trust is having a
deep understanding of the communities you serve.“Does this person understand me? Do they look
like me? Sound like me? Can they relate with the life
I lead?” Many of these questions subconsciously run
through the minds of people as they evaluate whether
or not to trust sources of information and specifically
on topics they hold in high regard. This is where factors like culture, lifestyle,
socioeconomic level, race, religion, politics and
experience also come into play. A lack of personal
association with the people presenting the information
and/or the people behind the brand is enough to
create a barrier unless a trusted partner can bridge
the gap.How?
Engaging leaders from a diverse set of local
partners or host organizations to be ambassadors for
the Prepped & Ready Program helps establish trust byextending that intermediary through
the respected relationship they
already have with that audience.
Our research shows program
participation and completion is
higher when recruitment strategies
come from within the community
that is being targeted.^1Integrating these community
partners into the program itself
