Additional Primary Research

In addition to our host site interviews, we also
spoke with several other subject matter experts in
fields relevant to this project including three
representatives for employee assistance programs,
an online health and wellness program director, a gun
wholesaler, a pastor, two staff members of the Health
Partnership Clinic, an assembly & distribution center,
and a user experience designer.

Key findings

Online health and wellness programs

  • Have built in audiences - Healthquest has a total
potential participant pool of around 53,000
users, New Directions has multiple clients, one
    of which is the USPS

  • Users are incentivized to complete different
components for insurance purposes which helps
    insure program completion

  • Multiple potential digital distribution methods
for Prepped and Ready including live/recorded
    webinars, asynchronous, segmented learning
    modules, and multi-week educational programs

  • Healthquest has a proven track record of
positive health outcomes related to their study
    of the 2017-2019 cohort

  • EAPs and Health and Wellness programs are
directly tied to additional support systems in-
cluding online resources as well as counseling

Reaching other audiences

  • Trust is key

  • Current format of the in-person Prepped and
Ready program is not likely to reach lower
    income demographics because of various
    factors:

    • Participant priorities are more focused basic
      necessities

    • Time commitment

    • Online access can also sometimes be a
      challenge

    • Literacy can be an obstacle for many
      lower income, non-native English
      speakers

    • Different ethnic backgrounds
      introduce unique challenges

    • Language can be a barrier

    • Cultural norms and stigmas

    • A hispanic audience will have
      different perspectives and
      expectations than a caucasian,
      or native american audience
