versidade Federal do Tocantins – Araguaína, North of the state, aimed
to delineate a relation between two touristic regions from the North of
Tocantins (Bico do Papagaio e Vale dos Grandes Rios) and the Brazilian
Tourism Map. Starting from exploratory research with students, and non-
systematic documental research with public documents (from the Fed-
eral Government and State Government), it was possible to get a sight of
deficiency of coordination between the Federal Government, state public
bodies, and local governance. As initial considerations, it is possible to
assess the need to set a public policy research agenda on tourism to the
North of Tocantins. It is also a need to focus on coordination, capacita-
tion, and formation of local public bodies. It is also suggested researches
that use large populations samples, as well researches that approach
government representatives and other groups and actors.
