in the scientific literature about increased risk of breast cancer among women
who consume alcohol to excess. If you drink more than 1 or 2 drinks a week,
you are more likely to end up with an atrophied, smaller brain as you get older.
You’re also more likely to have less muscle mass and more fat. You can forget
about your sex hormones once you’ve had too much alcohol. Yeah, you might
become less inhibited, but you will have no performance.
Sure you can have more fun after you’ve had a few cocktails or beers, but
being drunk makes you unattractive no matter how charming you may be. And
didn’t I just mention excess alcohol will make you fat, too? Does this mean I
want you to give up alcohol completely on the Perfect 10 Diet? Of course not.
Alcohol is allowed in moderation in Stages Two and Three of the Perfect 10
Diet, but when it’s consumed in excess, alcohol is poisonous to every system of
your body. If you drink a lot of alcohol, you are guaranteed to gain weight.
Why? Because alcohol is a sugar that’s used for energy before being stored as
fat. This means that if you drink a lot of alcohol, you may not be able to lose any
weight—even if you are following the rest of the Perfect 10 Diet principles to
the core.
For this reason, I recommend that you avoid alcohol completely if you have a
hard time losing weight, have a history of alcohol abuse, or suffer from an
existing liver disease. If you have no health issues and still wish to drink, I will
not discourage you from occasionally enjoying a glass of your favorite alcoholic
beverage after a stressful day at work or with dinner occasionally starting in
Stage Two.
I do ask that you trade in your favorite booze and beer for organic red wine.
Why organic? Because of sulfites. Sulfites are additives used in food and wines
to extend their shelf life, and they have been linked to allergic reactions and
asthma. Organic red wine also tastes better. Red wine, in particular, can reduce
your risk for heart disease because it contains higher levels of flavinoids. Just
like grapes, red wine is rich in resveratrol.
Be sure you avoid all calorie-dense mixed drinks made with added sugar and
fruit juices. Beer is high in maltose, a highly glycemic sugar. Because of this,
your body will treat beer like any other refined carbohydrates and will increase
its insulin secretion. You won’t have a perfect 10 body if you have a beer belly.
If you must drink beer, go for a lowcarb brand.
You should also increase your weekly exercise routine by at least one half
hour for every shot you consume. That should inspire you to cut back!
