that last forever on a shelf, food manufacturers load their products with sugar,
high-fructose corn syrup, and chemicals our grandparents never ate. Processed
food has little to no nutritional value and can lead to vitamin deficiencies. It’s
often loaded with colors, dyes, and artificial flavors to give it a near-natural
taste. It often contains partially hydrogenated oils—deadly trans fats—to make it
last longer on supermarket shelves. These additives are foreign substances the
body doesn’t know how to handle. In turn, all that junk creates a poisonous
atmosphere for our glands and messes up hormones. There is no doubt in my
mind that many types of cancer are related to these additives. There hasn’t been
nearly enough research to determine the cumulative effect of these additives on
health.
While medical authorities advise the public to count saturated fat grams and
limit the milligrams of cholesterol, I disagree with this advice. Recent research
has rebuffed this myth. Your body makes plenty of saturated fat quite efficiently
to store energy. The amount of saturated fat or cholesterol milligrams present in
food you eat on a daily basis is irrelevant to your health. What you should avoid
are chemicals, artificial dyes, partially hydrogenated oils, nitrites, sugar, and
other added ingredients. Just because the label says it’s good for you doesn’t
mean it really is.
- Do Not Buy Low-Fat or FatFree Products
Low-fat and fatfree products are everywhere, but these products are processed.
They are full of sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. They will raise your insulin
levels, make you hungry, and prompt weight gain. Fatfree products will also
negatively affect your cholesterol by raising your triglycerides and lowering
your good cholesterol (C-HDL) level. Both are bad for your cardiovascular
health when headed in these wrong directions. These products are processed and
should have no place in your diet. - Do Not Buy FatFree Dairy Products
Low-fat and fatfree dairy are missing the good fats that help you lose weight.
They mess up your insulin and sex hormones. Fatfree yogurt is loaded with
sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. The added sugar will make you hungry, and
prompt weight gain. Excess sugar will also negatively affect your cholesterol by
raising your triglycerides and lowering your good cholesterol (C-HDL) levels.
Again, both are bad for your cardiovascular health when headed in these wrong
directions.
