Tips for Dining Out
Follow these simple tips, and you will be rewarded with good health and weight
loss.
- Eat an acceptable snack 30 minutes before you go out. Yes, it’s okay to
break the Perfect 10 Diet rules here. A fat or protein food is preferred,
such as nuts, an avocado, or 2 slices of cheese to avoid over-ordering at
the restaurant. - Do not skip meals before dining out.
- Avoid “all-you-can-eat” restaurants. It’s no bargain when you pay the
price in pounds. There are plenty of food choices on the Perfect 10 Diet,
but please don’t have them all in the same meal. - Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water before dining out.
- Select grilled, broiled, or baked entrées, and never anything deep fried.
- Ask about chef ’s specials, since they are usually the freshest market
finds. - Have your waiter or chef explain how your meal is prepared. Don’t
hesitate to ask for changes or substitutions, or to send your food back if it
doesn’t meet your specific requirements. - Don’t be afraid of a rich buttery sauce, but ask for it on the side to avoid
excess calories. Use a fork to drizzle it on your meal. - Eat half your entrée and then drink a glass of water before you decide
whether you want the second half. - Don’t order a dessert until you’ve finished your meal, and then opt for
fresh fruit. If you can’t resist a rich, sugary dessert, share it with your
companions.
